Abstract

This research deals with the trends of linguistic theses at the College of Arabic Language, for postgraduate students, at Umm Al-Qura University, in Makkah, from the beginning of the twenty-first century until the year 2018, which corresponds to the Hijri 1420-1441 AH. It is a study that belongs to the field of bibliometric studies to the same extent that it belongs to its linguistic subject, and perhaps more. It is based on counting and surveying the topics that students wrote in at the master's and doctoral levels, on linguistic topics in general, with the aim of clarifying the trends that students took in this path. This study shows the course of linguistic efforts in students' theses, through statistics first, then data analysis.It is a survey statistical study, mixed with something of description, that appears when the need for it is presented, to clarify some aspects of this statistics, It takes from the field of bibliometric studies, including its evaluation of data and statistics, and the analysis that follows, away from talking about the contents of these studies, and evaluating their content. It surveys document in the hands of scholars and those who are interested, showing the witnesses and the absent from linguistic subjects, ancient and recent, over the past two decades.
