I would like to welcome all the visitors of the English Language Center website, and I am pleased to give you a quick glimpse of the center, its activities, and aspirations.
The English Language Center offers many general English language courses that aim to teach the various skills of learning and using the language in public and academic lives. The center also offers many specialized English language courses in various future work fields for the students of Umm Al-Qura University, such as: medical, technical, administrative, scientific and economic English etc.
Moreover, the English Language Center offers training programs for students of Umm Al-Qura University. The training programs are in various forms and use diverse methods, such as the academic writing training programs as well as training programs on acquiring and using English language skills, English language presentation and public speaking skills, and English language learning strategies.
Furthermore, the center contributes to the professional development of academic staff members of the university. This is by organizing intensive training programs to harness their skills and improve their command of the English language and by training the future scholarship students on the skills necessary for obtaining scholarships, such as: IELTS preparation skills, academic writing, the steps of searching for academic admission, and academic CV writing.
Recently, the center started to provide student orientation and advising services with the aim of identifying the weaknesses of university students, investigating the best ways to rectify them, and upgrading their academic levels at the hands of the skilled academic staff members of the center. The center also established the English Language Center Club, which organizes a series of meetings to engage the students in many challenges and fun competitions that end with prize draws.
The center’s administration is keen to provide a stimulating learning environment for students, continuously communicate with them to explore their needs, and ensure that this is reflected in the center’s academic and development plans designed for the students.
The English Language Center depends on the values of cooperation and a teamwork spirit among the academic staff members and the male and female students, with a high focus on the level of productivity of all parties involved and ensuring a smooth professional workflow. The center obtained a membership certificate of the quality program offered by Oxford University Press in the UK.
The administration of the English Language Center is looking forward to providing many services to the university’s employees, students, and members of the Makkan community, such as: translation, editing, and proofreading. We aspire for the center to become a leading English language institute that continues to realize its vision and mission, expanding them in line with the ambitious vision and mission of the university.
