The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Umm Al-Qura University occupies a leading position at the national and regional levels. Since its establishment, the department has historically played significant roles in preparing highly qualified cadres in the field of curricula and instruction methods at various academic levels. Moreover, it has made meaningful contributions to providing the departments of curricula and instruction methods in various Saudi universities with highly qualified cadres in the fields of curricula development, instruction methods, and educational supervision, and has opened broad horizons for enriching the experiences of educational practitioners such as supervisors and teachers.
The department's distinguished group of Saudi faculty members are experienced in various specializations and streams. These faculty members integrate their lauded efforts to highlight the department's notable contributions in supporting human development in its various dimensions.
In line with the National Transformation Program, the department led the implementation of ambitious plans that resulted in a programmatic transformation of various academic programs in the different academic degrees offered by the department. This was in addition to presenting a series of new programs that combines originality and contemporaneity, keeps pace with various developments and latest practices, and meets the needs of the educational field. Moreover, such programs are consistent with the aspirations of the wise leadership, in a way that achieves the goals of the national vision, which places the Saudi citizen at the center of attention.
In the context of completing its ambitious plans, the department is looking forward to strengthening its academic and research roles, and expanding the scope of its partnerships with all relevant authorities in the field of curricula and instruction methods. It also intends to enrich the field with more studies and research, and provide consultations in the area of specialization, being a leading national expertise house in this field.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Allah (Exalted be He) first and foremost, and to His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Omar Bafail, for his continuous follow-up and praiseworthy support for all the department's plans and development programs. Thanks are also extended to the Deanship of the College of Education and to all the faculty members of the department for their highly appreciated efforts to elevate the department and enhance its position locally and regionally.
