He sent down blessed rain with which He revived the lands, and brought out the plants in every kind for the livelihood of servants. We praise Him, Blessed and Exalted be He, as devout servants should praise. We trust in Him as humble and ascetic people should trust. We praise Him for his grace and sustenance. We praise Him for the knowledge that the servants have.
The tremendous development of the past decades in the field of computers and informatics, and the accompanying developments in the field of telecommunications, networks and biotechnology, have had a great impact on our daily lives in various fields. As a result, the Department of Computer Science was established to cope with this development and consolidate concepts and theories related to the fields of knowledge associated with computer science. The Department of Computer Science is the first department that was opened in the College of Computers at the Umm Al-Qura University Al-Leith Branch. The Department offers a bachelor's degree in computer science in both the male and female sections of the college, after the students have passed the approved study plan for the computer science program, which covers many fields of knowledge that the students need, to qualify them for the labor market in various branches of computer science.
The Department of Computer Science aims to prepare a generation of graduates with a high level of analysis, design and innovation capabilities, being among the most important and essential requirements for those working in the field of computers. To achieve this, the Department adopts student-centered scientific and cultural activities, in order to create an atmosphere of scientific competition among students, which will develop their abilities and skills to enable them to contribute efficiently and professionally to society. The Computer Science Program offered by the Department provides a unique and appropriate environment of its kind that enables students to be up-to-date in the field of computer science and informatics. This could be achieved through contact with specialists and expertise in the field of computers and information technology, which supports knowledge in this area, in addition to the study of technical and research skills.
Through the Computer Science Program, the Department provides students with the scientific foundations in various fields of computer science that contribute to the provision of scientific and authentic solutions that serve multiple areas in the local community. In the preparation of the study plan of the Computer Science program, a combination of theory, application and practice has been included. During the course of developing and updating the program plan, the Department seeks to adopt international foundations and standards by referring to organizations specialized in computing science.
