Out of the belief in the importance of the English language as a language used in many fields around the world, the English Language Center at Umm Al-Qura University was keen to provide training programs for academic staff members that deal with developing the main skills of the English language. This took place simultaneously with efforts exerted by the Deanship of University Development and Quality in motivating the academic staff to acquire the necessary skills to develop writing and speaking in the English language, which aims at developing the quality of the academic outputs in English in all disciplines.

Her Excellency the Director of the English Language Center, Dr. Sahar bint Matar Al-Zahrani, and Her Excellency the Deputy Director of the English Language Center for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Nawal bint Ali Al-Zahrani, gave directions to organize a work team to prepare training packages and tests to measure the level of enrollment in the program before and after its implementation. This is in order to measure the impact of the program.

The training program, which was held for a period of 6 weeks, began with a total of 18 training hours for the intermediate level. It was implemented remotely by the WebEx program, at a rate of 3 hours per week. The training was well received by the 112 trainees, and the participants expressed their sincere thanks to the trainers and all those in charge of the program.

The administration of the English Language Center extended their thanks to the academic members of the center who contributed to the success of the training program: Ms. Hanaa Al-Sa`idi, Ms. Salwa Al-Ahmadi, Dr. Siham Al-Ashhab, Dr. Anjum Shoudury, and Ms. Ghaidaa Filemban.
