As part of the activities of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, which include a series of scientific sessions aiming at spreading information, attracting interested persons, and enriching knowledge, the department held a scientific seminar entitled: "Use of Surface Acoustic Waves to Test Screw Tightening and Simulation Systems", by Dr. Hani Al-Hazimi, an academic staff member in the department.
The lecture was held at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, 18 March 2021 A.C., via the WebEx program. Dr. Al-Hazimi gave an introduction about surface acoustic waves and their multiple applications in industry and other fields, with a focus applications for screw tightening tests and hydration levels using surface acoustic waves. He also reviewed some of the results of screw tightening simulations using the Ansys program, comparing them to some practical results. Some lab results of hydration levels were also reviewed using surface acoustic waves.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Abdul-Majeed Al-Ghamdi, in coordination with Dr. Muhammad Yahia and in the presence of a number of the department affiliates.
