The Board of Directors of the Saudi Scientific Society for the Science of the Fundamentals and Objectives of the Shari`ah (Osol) held its second meeting in its second session (remotely) at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, 6 Jumada Al-Uwla1442 A.H., corresponding to 21 December 2020 A.C. The meeting continued until 12:00 p.m.
The Chairman of the Board, His Excellency Prof. Ali bin Abbas Al-Hakami, and all the members were present at the meeting. A number of topics on the meeting agenda were discussed, on top of which were: preparing the strategic plan for the society, supervising the verification of the book "Mahasin Al-Shari`ah" by Al-Qaffal Al-Shashi, and holding the remaining scientific meetings of the "Fundamental Applications" course (remotely), which was inaugurated by the society in the vicinity of the Grand Mosque, in cooperation with the Guidance and Advisory Affairs of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, but stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The board’s agenda also included the renewal of the announcement of the Science Day Competition for graduate students, in cooperation with the Department of Shari`ah at the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, to study the book of Al-Risalah by Imam Al-Shafi’i`(may Allah have mercy on him), which will be held remotely at the end of the next semester. The board also reviewed a detailed report on the Osol Journal, and a report from the society's Publication Committee.
Among the recommendations of the board was to renew the appointment of His Eminence Prof. Aref bin Awad Al-Rikabi, Professor in the Department of Shari`ah, as Director of the Osol Society. The board also recommended the approval of holding a number of scientific courses in some of its branches.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Scientific Society for the Science of the Fundamentals and Objectives of the Shari`ah (Osol) is affiliated to the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies at Umm Al-Qura University, and that the board of directors of the society in its second session are as follows:
