The Dean of the Colleges of Engineering and Computing in Al-Laith, Dr. Iskandar bin Muhammad Hawsawi, participated in the consultative, research, and advising meeting that was held by the General Administration of Institutional Communication at Umm Al-Qura University. Different deanships, educational and research institutes, and university departments also attended the meeting, during which they examined the strategic orientations for effective internal communication. The aim of the meeting was to come up with modern communication ideas and methods that are in line with modern-day requirements. This goal was achieved through the implementation of interactive workshops, held on Sunday and Monday, 23 and 24 February, at the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality. The workshops were attended by a number of male and female deans, heads of the academic departments, and directors of the university departments.
The workshops discussed the developments of communication techniques and modern means of communication, which aim at enhancing internal and external communication and interaction. They also gave a review of the most prominent and successful institutional communication experiences.
On his part, Dr. Iskandar Muhammad Husawi pointed out that institutional communication is a qualitative leap in the development of work. Communication, in all its types and forms, is vital in all the individual, collective and institutional work, as well as the multiple activities of each deanship and administration. Intellectual communication is the most important type of communication, especially as it is the primary driver for all work and tasks, and from this fact emerged the need to develop the nature of the work of institutional communication strategies within institutions, introducing a broader concept through the research, informative, and strategic meeting held by the General Administration of Institutional Communication at Umm Al-Qura University.
It is worth noting that these workshops were the first efforts of the General Administration of Institutional Communication to establish communication strategies in partnership with the university entities. The workshops aimed to raise the level of direct coordination between the internal bodies to unify communication visions and define common goals, keeping them in line with the university's goals.
