Given its role in providing community education and awareness of cancer diseases and the methods of their prevention as well as encouraging early detection, the University Medical Center, represented by the Public Health Unit, launched the World Cancer Day event. This event took place on Thursday, 03 Rajab 1441 A.H., through the cooperation, communication, and coordination of the Gulf Center for Cancer Control and Prevention. It targeted the entire university community, including all students and employees and their families who are eligible for treatment at the University Medical Center.

The activities included several induction corners for adults and children about cancer, explaining its most prevalent types, causes, and the methods of prevention, as well as preventive nutrition. This is in addition to educating people on the importance of early detection of cancer through the use of informative boards, brochures, models, and visual presentations, and displaying the content on all the visual screens in the University Medical Center to contribute in raising awareness of cancer. Moreover, the branch of the University Medical Center at the Deanship of University Studies (female students) in Al-Zahir launched the World Cancer Day activity on Tuesday, 1 Rajab, 1441 A.H., inside the campus of the female section.
