The Vice Deanship of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies held the course entitled: "Emotional Intelligence and the Policy of Success", on Tuesday, 17 Jumada Al-Thani, 1441 A.H. The course was delivered by Dr. Sibhah Al-Lihyani, in Al-Jafali Hall (2), from 10:00 a.m. till 12.00 p.m.
At the beginning of the course, Her Excellency Dr. Sibhah asked the attendees: (Why do we associate emotional intelligence with the secret of success? What are your expectations from the course? And what do you understand by the term emotional intelligence?) There was a noticeable interaction from the attendees.
The course included several themes, such as (the concept of emotional intelligence and its different components, the conflict between the mind and emotions, the definition of emotional intelligence and its importance on the personal level, management of self-changing strategies to develop a better intelligence, self-communication and understanding motives and obstacles, as well as the emotional intelligence indices of a successful personality).
Dr. Sibhah talked about the emergence of emotional intelligence, which emerged in the United States of America in the nineties. The researchers in America noted, through research and studies that included tens of thousands of people, that the success and happiness of a person in life do not only depend on the educational degree and scientific attainment, which both manifest the person's mental intelligence "Intelligence Quotient (IQ)", but also needs another type of intelligence which the researchers called "Emotional Intelligence".
Moreover, the course included selected questions for determining the Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ).
At the end of the course, Her Excellency the Vice Dean of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, Prof. Nurah Al-Mahmadi, extended her thanks to the presenter of the course, and expressed her wish that the presenter's distinctive contributions would continue, wishing her more success.
