Yesterday (Thursday), the Umm Al-Qura University Vice Presidency, represented by the University Medical Center, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs and Student Medical Clubs, celebrated World Diabetes Day in the lobby of the Academic Hub in Al-Abdiyyah. The event was attended by His Excellency the Vice President of the University, Prof. Farid bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Omar Sunbul, the Director General of the University Medical Center, Dr. Yasir Bahakim, and the Vice Deans of Student Affairs, Dr. Yasir Al-Hazmi, Dr. Abdullah Al-Attas, and Dr. Hasan Al-Hasani.
The varied event included information on the pillars of diabetes management, an information exhibition that included several elements related to the definition of diabetes and warning signs, in addition to a service measuring vital signs and sugar testing with the participation of mobile clinics at the College of Dentistry.
The Director General of the University Medical Center, Dr. Yasir Bahakim, said that this celebration is part of the activities and programs of the center to enhance its health and awareness role to serve the students and employees of the university in integration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and Student Medical Clubs, as well as for playing a societal role towards the university community. He added that the center will work hard to continue these events in cooperation with the deanships and supporting administrations.
The University Vice President, Prof. Farid Al-Ghamdi, noted the role played by the University Vice Presidency, represented by the University Medical Center, in organizing such awareness activities.
