Three thousand (3000) students from the preparatory stage at public schools have had their teeth examined in the Teeth Decay Examination Program, in the framework of mutual cooperation between the College of Dentistry at Umm Al-Qura University and the General Directorate of Education in Makkah. This was to activate the Makkah Smile Initiative in its consecutive third year.
The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Khutani, discussed with the delegate of the General Directorate of Education in Makkah, which was headed by Mr. Muhammad Al-Sulaimi, during their visit to the headquarters of the college last Thursday, the aspects of mutual cooperation concerning the achievements of the initiative on the mouth and teeth health of preparatory school students. This initiative aims at detecting early teeth decay and gingivitis, and encouraging the use of fluoride to strengthen tooth enamel. Moreover, it seeks to discuss the development of community partnership in a way that serves all students in the region.
The delegate members visited the departments of the Educational Dentistry Hospital and the Mobile Clinic in the company of the college's vice deans, heads of the departments, and the clinic's general supervisor.
