Out of the concern of His Excellency the Dean of the Joint First Year Deanship, Dr. Sa`d bin Sa`id Al-Ghamdi, to improve the quality of academic and professional performance among the students, and to urge them to achieve more accomplishments, the Student Advisory and Support Unit, under the supervision of His Excellency Dr. Wahib bin Dakhilullah Al-Harbi, the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs (Male Section) at Al-Abdiyyah, organized a lecture entitled, "Confident steps towards academic creativity and excellence". The lecturer was presented by Prof. Ayish bin Atiyah bin Abdul-Mu`ti Al-Bishri on Sunday, 14 Safar, 1441 A.H.

The lecture, which was attended by more than 60 students of the Joint First Year Deanship, had several main objectives, most importantly:

• Bridging the gap between the study requirements, university life, and previous study phases.
• Undertaking the required tasks and activities using systematic and scientific methods, instead of wrong or ineffective habits.
• Increasing productivity and performance efficiency, as well as the level of educational achievement.
• Performing tasks on time and with suitable effort, and investing time and effort correctly.
• Increasing student's competitiveness and their constant pursuant of excellence and success.
• Encourage students to keep developing themselves and acquiring skills.
• Being aware of university rights and duties.

At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Ayish Al-Bishri gave training on how to achieve creativity, through a manual activity implemented by a number of students. At the end of the training session, the students were divided into 6 groups, each headed by a leader. Each group presented some of their personal ideas and how to deal with them using skills and awareness or the stages in the learning skills table. Prof. Ayish Al-Bishri also touched upon the secrets of the human mind, focusing on 4 secrets. In addition, he tackled a number of university life skills which help in increasing the level of educational achievement among students.
