The University Medical Center, in cooperation with the Public Health at the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, is pleased to announce the commencement of the campaign for the meningococcal meningitis vaccination within the special preparations of the region for the Hajj season of 1440 A.H. The targeted categories include all the students and personnel of UQU, and those eligible for treatment at the University Medical Center. The vaccinations will start on Sunday, 2 Sha`ban, 1440 A.H., during the official working hours at the University Medical Center in Al-Aziziyyah and the branch of the University Medical Center in the Deanship of University Studies for Female Students in Al-Zahir, to ensure all the targeted categories are vaccinated, according to the following:
Tetravalent (ACYW135) conjugate (Menactra /Aramen) vaccine is administered from the age of 9 months when the child has not been vaccinated during the last five years.
Tetravalent (ACYW135) polysaccharide vaccine is administered to the elderly (above 55 years) who have not been vaccinated during the last three years, besides the choice of giving the tetravalent (ACYW135) conjugate vaccine, in case the tetravalent (ACYW135) polysaccharide vaccine is unavailable.
