From the standpoint of scientific research and exchange of experiences, the students of IEEE (the Student Council and Branch) of the Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture paid a field visit to Al-Mashaer Station in Mecca, the Department of Assets Maintenance (Mecca and Ta'if) of the Saudi Electricity Company, on Thursday, 30 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., corresponding to 7 March, 2019 A.C.

They were received and welcomed to Al-Mashaer Station, where safety and its required measures were explained before they entered the station. Next, a brief introduction was presented about the station and its significance in the electrical system, and an explanation was made of the operation procedures, the station's components, the feeders, transformers, protection, communications, control room and fault detection.

UQU was represented by Dr.Yassir Al-Hazmi, while the team of the Saudi Electricity Company was represented by: Eng. Abdul-Latif Al-Zahrani, Mr. Dahlan Flamban, Mr. Adel Al-Shanbari, Eng. Hani Halwani, Eng. Muhammad Sirti, and Eng. Farid Al-Maghrabi.
