Under the patronage of his Excellency the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Ali bin Muslih Al-Matrifi, and in the presence of his Excellency the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs, Dr. Tawfiq bin Idris Al-Bakri, and his Excellency the Head of the Physical Education Department, Dr. Yusuf bin Atiyyah Al-Thubaiti, a workshop entitled "Dealing with Emergencies" was conducted for the third time at the grand hall of the College of Education at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, 12 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H.
A lecture was delivered by Dr. Medhat Qasim Abdul-Raziq, the Professor of Sports Injuries, Physical Rehabilitation, and Sports Health Sciences at the Department of Physical Education. It included practical training to identify injuries and emergencies, and how to administer first aid to keep an injured person alive until the arrival of specialized medical personnel. It also dealt with first aid procedures for the most common injuries.
His Excellency Dr. Yusuf bin Atiyyah Al-Thubaiti talked about the importance of first aid knowledge for ordinary persons and those specializing in sports and physical sciences to enable them to recognize and deal with emergency situations, especially with the significant participation of youth in sports and physical activities. This requires the ability to deal with common injuries and emergency situations that may occur during physical activity or those persons may suffer from in general.
The workshop was attended by the academic staff from the Department of Physical Education, and 130 students from the department and the college.
