The Physical Education Department in the College of Education, Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah, is the first academic department of its kind in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) universities. It was founded in 1396 A.H., and ever since has graduated many teachers, leaders, trainers and administrators in the field of physical education.

The department offers programs in sports specializations for undergraduate and master's degrees. The Doctorate in Sports Management program is the first in Saudi Arabia in this field.
