Activities of ‘My University Is Part of the Holy Land’ Program Held at the College of Shari`ah

As part of the activities of a program entitled "My University Is Part of the Holy Land", and under the slogan "All Regions of Makkah are Part of the Holy Land", the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies held a program in collaboration with the Vice-Deanship for Counseling, Guidance and Community Partnership, and the Sacred City Glorification Project. This program was organized under the leadership of the Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs and Development, Prof. Ibtisam Al-Qurani, and  was coordinated by Ms. Arwa Amirud and Sarah Arusi from the Department of Shari`ah, and Dr. Ahlam Abu Qayid from the Department of History. The program took place on Monday, 3 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H., in Al-Jawhara Hall.

The program included many workshops in which a number of the College's female academic staff participated. The students of the Center of Islamic Studies, led by the Center's Vice-Director, Dr. Ibtisam Al-Ghamdi, held a workshop entitled "How to Glorify Makkah". Moreover, Prof. Lamya' Al-Shafi`i and Dr. Samirah Al-Sa`idy held a workshop entitled "Divine Gifts to the People of Makkah, Due to the Status and Sanctity of Makkah".

The program also included many lectures in which the lecturers tackled the Islamic, legal and historical aspects of Makkah; Prof. Hala Gastiyah tackled Zamzam water, its merits, and the desirable acts to be performed while drinking it. In addition, Dr. Hayat Al-Rashidy and Dr. Hanan Al-Gad`ani from the Department of History talked about some places in Makkah, specifically "Kudi, Kuda', and Kuda". Moreover, Dr. Sarah Arusy discussed the importance of realizing the Divine Legislator's objective behind the different legal rulings, and its impact on glorifying Allah and His Shari`ah, as well as the fact that Allah has selected and distinguished Makkah from all other places in the world. During this program, Dr. Amnah Galal described the educational facilities offered to the people of Makkah, and a model of the schools that were in Makkah during the Mamluk era.

The number of the attendees reached 650 female students and 24 academic members, and the number of beneficiaries of the Ghaymat Tuhr (Purifying Cloud) Initiative amounted to 40 women. The program received admiration from the attendees, and many of the College's female students participated in the preparation of the educational corners, which have benefited many students with regard to the glorification of Makkah.

The College's Vice-Deanship held a competition in which four female students won valuable prizes; the first prize, a trip by train to Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, was received by the student Batul Al-Salami from the Department of Da`wah.
