At the College of Dentistry (Girls Section), a training course was organized on Wednesday, 8th Safar 1440H. The course was entitled, “Practical Clinical Rules in Dentistry of Persons with Special Needs.” It stemmed from the initiatives of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030, i.e. “Ghali (Precious)” Initiative.
It is worth mentioning that the initiative aimed to provide appropriate services and university environment for students with special needs. In addition, the course was presented by Dr. Heba Abdulkarim Faden, from the Department of Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at the University Dental Hospital, King Abdulaziz University (KAU) (Persons with Special Needs discipline). Moreover, it was supervised by the Vice Deanship of Student Affairs for Activities and Student Training. It also witnessed the attendance of Dr. Sarah Wajdy Taher, Vice Dean of the Dentistry College, and a group of staff members and students. During the course, Student/ Amjad Saud Al-Sharif participated with a relevant topic entitled, “Clinical Rules for Autistic Persons.” On the other hand, Dr. Heba Faden spoke about the methods of treatment and support for persons with special needs, and the role of the dentist in treatment.
At the end of the course, Dr. Sarah Taher extended thanks to Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Khotany, Dean of the Dentistry College, for his continuous support for all what benefitted students and achieved the College’s objectives. She also hailed the participation of Dr. Heba Faden, and thanked all students and employees who contributed to the success of such course.
