Scientific Research Deanship Holds Training Needs in Research Volunteering Workshop

Under the patronage of Dr. Thamer bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Deanship of Scientific Research, represented by the Scientific Research for Research Volunteering and Voluntary Research, organized a workshop entitled "Training Needs for Researchers in the Field of Research Volunteering  & Voluntary Research from the Point of View of Academic and Research Leaders", on Thursday, 3-3-1439 AH. The workshop aimed to create an appropriate research environment for researchers in the field of volunteering research and voluntary research, the participation of researchers and academic and research leaders in the development of training needs, and to come out with a preliminary view of the training plan for the volunteer researchers and training needs for research volunteering.

The workshop was opened by a speech made by the vice president for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research about the importance of volunteering as a strategic issue, and one objective of the Saudi 2030 economic developmental vision, and the actual need to establish an agency to provide voluntary research services and scientific research in the field of volunteering. He lauded HE UQU President Dr. Bakro bin Matouq Assad for the UQU research efforts, and thanked the Deanship of Scientific Research’s diligent efforts in raising research and researchers levels.

This was followed by a speech made by Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ghalib Al-Ahdal, dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, in which he described the tasks of the newly created agency and the outputs presented by Attaa Initiative- one of the scientific research initiatives-since its inception a year and a half ago; referring to the future aspirations of the Deanship to provide high quality research services, in addition to authentic research in the field of volunteering.

Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudi, dean of University Studies for Girls, presented a speech in which she supported the blessed efforts of Attaa Initiative in providing voluntary research services, strengthening internal and external social partnerships, and qualifying as well as developing the performance of volunteer researchers and their training needs.

Dr. Samia Al Sharaf, vice dean of Scientific Research for Research Volunteering & Voluntary Research, presented the workshop at the girls section. In the meantime, Dr. Faisal Bawaris, vice dean of Scientific Research, presented the workshop at the males section. Both of them were keen to benefit from the expertise of the attendees in filling in the training needs of the researcher forms in general, and the research volunteer in particular, in addition to proposing the training courses that meet the skill or knowledge needs of researchers.

The workshop was attended by a number of deans, vice deans of scientific research, and a group of faculty members interested in volunteer research.
