Within its unremitting endeavors to, and enduring interest in increasing awareness and improving health culture in Makkah, the College of Applied Medical Sciences launched an initiative under the theme "Movement for Health". It highlights the importance of movement and physical activity as a way of life in protecting the human body from dangerous diseases such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, cardiovascular and geriatric diseases. Studies proved that having a healthy lifestyle could cut down risks of many dangerous diseases, unlike the office lifestyle which is associated with many diseases.
The campaign was launched on Thursday, 1st of Jumada II 1437H, at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital and King Faisal Hospital in Al-Shisha. The college's dean, Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ashshi, kicked off the campaign and reiterated the importance of the university's role in sustaining communication with the community to boost public health.
The event program covered activities which aimed at increasing outpatients' awareness of the importance of movement and physical activity. It included spreading of explanatory booklets, pamphlet, and leaflets. Moreover, the college's students and faculty members participated in explanation, as well as encouraging outpatients to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
