The Schedule of demonstrating and discussing the architectural design studios for the students of the department of Islamic architecture for the second term of the academic year 1436-1437 AH, included the demonstration and discussion of the following projects, this took place on Sunday Shaban 8th 1437 AH.
Studio 2 Plan 30:
Number of Students: 50 students. Under the Supervision of the professors: Dr. Mohamed Wahba, Dr. Amr Mohamed Al Zawahry, Dr. Tariq Farouq Abdel Salam, and Eng. Mohamed Mohamed Al Jafri. The projects dealt with designing a house unit composed of two floors in a tourist resort at Abhor Beach, Jeddah. The second project dealt with designing the main building and a restaurant at a tourist beach in Abhor. The judging panel featuring Dr. Mohamed Atef Elhami, Dr. Ali Abdullah Al Mansouri, Dr. Abdel Kareem Muthar Hameed Addin, and Dr. Farag Mohamed Zaki conversed with the students.
Studio 6 Plan 23:
Number of students: 15 students. Under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Mohamed Shawqi Abu Leila. The projects submitted dealt with designing sustainable heritage neighborhoods in different areas around KSA. Areas around KSA and their heritag along with the establishment of neighborhoods with sustainable environmental aspects conforming to the constructional and architectural feature of traditional buildings in different areas have been examined. Dr. Adel bin Yassine and Dr. Abdu Thabet Al Absi have assessed and discussed the projects.
Studio 8 Plan 23:
Number of Students: 15 students. Under the supervision of Dr. Ali Atwa and Eng. Salah Salama the assistant professor in the department. The projects submitted focused on heritage revival in Makkah Al Mukaramah; through establishing a heritage village in Makkah Gate, and reviving the site of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah in Makkah Al Mukaramh. Dr. Adel Bin Yassine and Abdu Thabet Al Absi have assessed and discussed the projects.
Professors of the studios and the judging panels have presented the projects submitted by students. The demonstrations and discussions were attended by a number of concerned parties, on top of which Dr. Hamza Ghulman, the dean of the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture.
