Seminar (The Ottoman Turkish Manuscripts in Egypt)

Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) has organized a seminar on the (Ottoman Turkish Manuscripts in Egypt), in Cairo, on Thursday Shabaan 22nd, 1438 A.H. correspondent to May 18th,2017 A.D. The seminar was introduced by Turkish Manuscripts specialist at the Egyptian National Library and Archives Mr. Hassan Muhammadein Hassan.  Also, the seminar was attended by Dr. Farouk Bozkoz from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the former head of the Department of Manuscripts and Coins, Dar al Kutub Museum director Karima Omar, along with a number of researchers and individuals interested in Ottoman manuscripts and archives.

During the seminar, the term "Manuscripts" was detailed, as well as the features differentiating Ottoman Manuscripts from others, the value of research in Ottoman Manuscripts, the places to find them (mainly the Egyptian National Library and Archives, Al-Azhar Library, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as well as the universities of Alexandria, Cairo, Assiut and South Valley).

At the end, Mr. Hassan called on all officials and concerned bodies to support the project of preparing detailed catalogs for those manuscripts to meet the needs of researchers.  The representative of TIKA in Cairo Dr. Farouk Bozkoz responded to the call declaring TIKA's adoption of the project due to its historical and research advantages.
