At 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, a presentation on the Aesthetics of Mathematics was made by the students of the Department of Mathematics, under the supervision of Dr. Howaida Al-Faran. The meeting was attended by the faculty members of the department and a number of its female students.
The presentation included posing a question that sums up the main topic of the talk, which is: where does the aesthetics of mathematics lie; in its equations or in the mind of someone who understands it? Various details of mathematics, its aesthetics and its attractiveness were then enumerated. One of the most important reasons for the beauty of mathematics is that it serves scientific progress in all fields. Michael Attia spoke about these features and said: "What fascinates me about mathematics is the interaction between its different branches, its unexpected links, and its surprises."
The attendees interacted with the interesting information presented at the meeting; this increased their confidence in choosing the right major for study and their admiration for being mathematicians.
