Under the generous patronage of His Excellency the Dean of the University College in Al-Leith, Dr. Makhlid Owaid Al-Saeedi, and in the presence of the teaching staff members, the Department of Mathematics organized the first introductory meeting for new students of the academic year 1443 A.H. This took place remotely on Tuesday, 14 Safar 1443 A.H., corresponding to 21 September 2021 A.C., via the WebEx online platform.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Head of the Department, His Excellency Dr. Omar Musa Al-Salihi, in which he congratulated the students on the new academic year and wished them all success. Then he gave an overview of the department and its evolution over the years, introduced the faculty, and reviewed some of the students' academic affairs and the main blueprints of the study plan. He also pointed out the importance of student advising and its role in preparing, assisting, and following up the progress of students during their academic career. Moreover he stressed the keenness of the college's leadership to diversify and repeat such meetings and to open communication channels with the students in order to listen to their remarks and various queries.

The floor was then given to the students for them to inquire about the most important academic regulations at Umm Al-Qura University. The meeting ended with some time devoted to reminding the need of adhering to the preventive procedures and protocols regarding the coronavirus pandemic whenever the students are present at the university headquarters in general and the college headquarters in particular. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Omar thanked everyone for attending.
