In response to an invitation from Al-Turath Charitable Foundation, founded and chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Al-Thurath Foundation held a training program during spring 2021 A.C. The training program, which was held from 10–17 Shawwal 1442 A.H., corresponding to 22–29 May 2021 A.C., was concerned with studying traditional and heritage architecture, methods of preserving and taking care of the architecture by restoring it, and reusing it with the aim of maintaining the urban and planning-related identity of the historic Jeddah region.

It is worthy of note that eight students from the Department of Islamic Architecture participated in this training program.

The program included a number of lectures that introduced traditional and heritage architecture, clarified how to preserve and take care of it, and explained methods of referral and documentation using digital devices and laser scanning. In addition, the program included the preparation of a case study on Bayt Al-Kuttab, which the students were assigned to conduct.
