The Department of Biochemistry, represented by Prof. Esam Al-Din Muhammad Nour Al-Din, participated in the Conference on Hematological Diseases which was held from 24 to 25 Safar 1439 A.H., in the Training and Education Center. The conference entitled, ‘Gene Therapy for Genetic Hematological Diseases’, was organized by Al-Noor Specialist Hospital in Makkah, and was attended by a large number of specialists from different health and educational bodies, on the top of which was the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah, represented by the Administration of Laboratories and Blood Banks. Among the participating bodies were King Abdullah Medical City and Umm Al-Qura University, which made an effective contribution through the College of Medicine and the College of Applied Medical Sciences. It is worth noting that Dr. Hani, the Head of the Department of the Laboratory and Blood Bank in the hospital and Chairman of the Conference, touched on several themes, including an overview of hematological and hereditary diseases, the ‘Healthy Marriage’ program, a modern view on diagnostic medical examinations, and other themes.
