    First Dean (2006-2010):

    Prof. Mohammed Tayeb,

First Dean, College of Pharmacy: 2006-2010

Head of Medical Genetics Department-College of Medicine
Editor in Chief of Umm Al-Qura University Medical Journal

It is my pleasure to be the first Dean of Pharmacy College, which was established in 2006 by a royal decree to join the medical colleges. Starting from zero was not an easy project. However, with clear mission and vision along with the full support from the university Deanship office and the students, the college of pharmacy now is one of the pioneer colleges in the country. It was founded with a vision to educate the Saudi students to successfully and confidently meet the dynamic challenges in the healthcare market while maintaining the Islamic teachings, ethics, and moral values.

The college of pharmacy in UQU is the first college in the kingdom to offer the two programs; the Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) program and the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Program. The college provides students with challenging and rewarding research projects, leading to opportunities in the world of academia, industry and research. Over the last decade, the college of Pharmacy in UQU proved to be a source of knowledge, ethics, and principles and an enthusiastic environment for learning and practicing. Watching the pharmaceutical industry project seeing the light by hiring graduates and manufacturing national medications is a really great experience and achievements for the college. The alumni of this college stand as a real life example for our achievements.

I wish the students of UQU generally and the college of pharmacy specifically all success in their endeavors. I also wish the best for the academic and administrative colleagues and I appreciate their hard work and keeping their eyes on excellence. Lastly, I would like to thank all the Deans who came after me, started from where I finished, and took the Pharmacy College to the next level of excellence.
