Overview of the department:
The Physics Department at the University College in Jamoum in UQU is considered one of the main and important departments in the college. Over the past years, and up until now, the department and faculty members are behind the leading and supporting researches. They have made great contributions to improve the reputation of the Psychics Department as one of the excellent institutions for higher education in the Kingdom. In addition, they have provided prominent educational and creative opportunities for many talented individuals and students in the Physics Department.
For the undergraduate stage, the department teaches General Physics, which includes several fields in physics, such as: Traditional mechanics, Thermal Dynamics, Modern Physics, Nuclear Physics, Mathematical Physics, Experimental Physics, Quantum mechanics, Solid State Physics, physics of electromagnetism, light, theory of relativity, electronics, semiconductors, and radiophysics, in addition to other courses that suit the students’ interests and tendencies as well as national needs.
The courses present an integrated series of basic physics courses with a range of advanced specialized courses in the different fields of physics. These courses prepare students to receive his bachelor’s degree in physics.
The physics courses taught in the department are accredited by the international physics bodies recognized by the best universities in the world.
The plan set by the department for students to receive their bachelor’s degree aims to provide the students with the basic principles in theoretical physics, in addition to the practical applications designed within a specific pattern that enables to master these courses with a high level of scientific efficiency. This enables students after their graduation to take the jobs available in both the industrial as well as educational field, as the graduate of the department can work immediately after graduating, There are theoretical and practical areas in the department that are seeing intensive activity and research , such as:
1. Nuclear physics
2. Radiation Physics
3. Laser and its applications
4. Superconducting materials
5. Nano technology
6. Solid State Physics (Theoritical - Practical)
7. Medical Physics
