Description of the Labs and Museum Committee Mission:

  • Study and identify the labs, devices and materials needed by the department
  • Outline a general framework for labs, their order, and relation with one another, as well as the space and rooms necessary for each lab
  • Equip labs in a manner that fulfills its objectives, and meets is needs
  • Prepare proposals, and define specs of devices and lab units
  • Ensure regular maintenance to labs, and replace damaged devices and materials by the end of each semester
  • Study and identify the furniture and educational media required by labs
  • Study and identify the technicians and assistants necessary for organization and equipping of labs
  • Study and consider the proposals put forth to labs
  • Develop existing labs by suggesting devices and programs that fit well with the study plans
  • Make sure that technicians and assistants adhere to discipline, accuracy and cleanliness while preparing for practical sessions
  •  Follow up safety and security devices at the beginning of each semester, to ensure that they work properly
  • Follow up and oversee chemicals, to ensure they are not expired, and damage them in a scientifically sound manner
  • Develop a database listing the department's devices and materials
  • Organize an educational lecture at the beginning of each semester, aiming to raise students' awareness of safety and security, and show them emergency entrances and exits, and how to handle devices and chemicals.

Committee's Museum-Related Functions:

  • Oversee organization of treasuries and shelves of the museum, and put labels substances
  • Monitor order and cleanliness of substances 
  • Replace preservatives when expired
  • Regularly keep an eye on samples, to ensure they are not damaged or distorted
  • Organize introductory tours to the museum for the college's students and visitors
  • Add the new samples to be fetched during academic trips or student activities
  • Develop description of the Quality Committee's functions, and follow up plans of the scientific departments
