Arabic Language Department is one of the biggest in the University College (formerly Teachers College) since its origination, as Arabic Language is the language of the Koran and one of the living languages that developed on Earth and led mission to the fullest. It has not weaken in the past or present, or stop keeping up with life any time, because it is distinguished from other languages by the richness of its wording, the plenty of its structures, the flexibility of its expressions, and other features that entitled it to be the language of the Koran.
At the beginning of college origination, it was granting its graduates diploma of education and Arabic Language after a study of two academic years. After the application of the undergraduate program in 1409 AH, it became granting Bachelor's Degree in Arabic Language after a four-year study; during which the student draws on various linguistic, literary and fundamentalist knowledge that elevates his/her level of scientific standard to a high degree of culture and knowledge.
In 1427 AH, the department began the application of "Arabic Language Path" program, through which the student is granted Bachelor's Degree in Arabic Language to teach in intermediate school.
Mission:
Providing the best scientific and educational services to the students and scholars of the college in order to get them to the best educational and scientific levels, and prepare them in a way that accommodates community needs and requirements.
Objectives:
- Graduating qualified teachers in Arabic Language and its literatures.
- Preparing graduates to be responsible for taking Arabic Language as a means of communicating information to the minds of students.
- Providing students with various types of linguistic, literary and rhetorical knowledge.
- Improving the hand- writing of college students in general.
- Improving the performance of students in spelling and writing.
- Developing the faculty's and students' spirit of scientific research and writing in the field of Arabic Language and its literatures.
- Providing postgraduate programs in Arabic Language in the future.
- Providing programs and training courses for the community to preserve the integrity of Arabic Language.
