Abstract:

This research aimed at identifying the achievement levels of King Khalid University students in the Intensive English language program (IELP) courses during a five-year period. The research also aimed at identifying the differences in the students' achievement due to the course, the academic year and the track variables. Another aim was to discover if there is a correlation between students’ grades in the IELP courses and their grade point averages (GPA). The results showed that the average score in these courses was 76.3 out of 100 and the success rate was 95.3%. The results also found differences in achievement attributed to the course, the track and the academic year variables. These differences were in favor of 019 ENG, the health track, and the academic year 1440/1441 AH. The research also found a positive relationship between students’ grades and their GPAs and the ability of these grades to predict students' GPAs.
