OSH Professional Training Program

Objective:

The training program related to this level is designed to enlarge the range of skills and knowledge that will be gained by the trainees in level 1 (Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner) to be capable of doing high-level duties in the field of occupational safety and health. This includes effective supervision and management of the department of occupational safety and health and achieving the standard of efficiency required by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, according to the national standards of professional skills for such types of responsibilities in the field of safety.

General outputs:

• An occupational safety and health professional can set high level, independent regulations and plans. In the more complicated situations, he can provide guidance.
• Upon completion of this program, the trainee will be able to:

1. Undertake a leading role in implementing enterprise strategies.
2. Ensure the identification of the main risks and the required standards for critical risks.
3. Design, provide, evaluate and ensure training on occupational safety and health.
4. Carry out and lead audit and inspection operations of the activities or support the supreme leadership responsible for such matters in the large enterprises.
5. Implement a range of organizational activities for the preventive improvement of occupational safety and health.
6. Keep pace with the latest international practices in the field of occupational safety and health.

320 hours, 16 weeks (4 months).

Venue:

The Institute of Consulting Research and Studies, Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah.

Target group:

• The program targets those wishing to obtain a job opportunity in the OSH field (men and women).
• It also targets holders of a practitioner certificate who wish to complete their training and harness their acquired knowledge and skills in the OSH field.
• The program is open to both male and female trainee candidates.

Requirements:

• The trainee should not be an employee or an employer.
• The trainee should hold a first-level (practitioner) certificate in occupational safety and health or an equivalent recognized certificate, or have professional experience in the OSH field.
• The trainee should hold at least a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) certificate.
