Message from the Head of History Department

Thanks be to the Lord Almighty who said "There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding." and peace be upon the glorious seal of prophets, Muhammad (PBUH) and his family and companions.

History is the record of humanity, from which peoples take pride on their past glory, learn lessons of the past and use those lessons to build their future. Civilized peoples around the world attach great importance to their history in particular and the history of others in general.

The History department at College of Shari'a and Islamic Studies, UQU seeks to build a generation that realizes the importance of their Islamic and national history and culture, and helps our dear Kingdom to grow and prosper.

Message from the Head of Accounting Department

Thanks be to Allah and Peace be upon the seal of prophets:

Accounting and auditing are instrumental in strengthening economy since they boost banking sector security; guarantee integrity and curtail corruption; create nurturing investment environment; ensure credibility of financial statements; and encourage sustainable development. In this respect, UQU established Accounting section in 1405 H as a part of Islamic Economics department. Owing to the increasing number of Accounting students in the second semester of the academic year 1421/1422 H, Accounting was separated from Economics department to become an independent department. Accounting study plan was subjected to modification five times; at first the department applied the hours system like other departments (first study plan of 1405 H, and second study plan of 1412 H).

Following a royal decree, the third study plan of 1418/1419 H applied the academic point system instead of the credit hour system. Later on, the a fourth study plan (of 1425 H to present) was adopted to keep up with the latest developments in areas of specialization and meet labour market needs. The fourth plan will be modified soon in accordance with the national qualification system and the standards of the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB), which is an IFAC body.

The new study plan is supposed to fulfill GCC Accounting & Auditing Organization ambitions pertaining to the development of accounting and audition in the state members, based on the best global standards and practices; it will also be in line with SOCPA's efforts to shift to applying the international standards as of 2017, helping unify accounting and auditing curricula at KSA and Gulf universities, and boom joint gulf market business in addition to localizing the profession of accounting and auditing.
