Overview:

The Deanship of Graduate Studies was established in 1388H, were the first  division of Islamic Law Graduate Studies was opened in the College of Shari'a and Islamic Studies. As such, UQU is pioneer in the field of graduate studies in our beloved Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On 3rd of Safar ,1392H the first master dissertation at the level of the Kingdom was discussed in the University.

After that, series of achievements and contributions followed by opening more than 80 graduate studies programs of diploma, master and doctoral degrees in the different colleges and divisions.  

In 1413H, the Deanship of Graduate Studies was established pursuant to the decision no. 9 of the supreme council of the university in its session no. 25 dated 17th Safar, 1413H to undertake the responsibility of overseeing divisions of graduate studies and follow up its affairs.

Thanks to Allah in the first place, today the Deanship plays a vital and significant role for the students of graduate studies starting from their reception to enroll in the program up to granting them their scientific degrees.

Mission:

The Deanship of Graduate Studies strives to manage programs of graduate studies in terms of planning, organization and development in line with set laws and regulations in a manner which serves the individual,  achieves community development and contributes to solving its problems, and achieves the Saudi Vision 2030

Objectives:

The Objectives of the Deanship of Graduate Studies are as following:

  • Promoting research and publication of Islamic and Arabic graduate studies;
  • Enriching all branches of human knowledge through specialized studies and research to achieve innovative and applied scientific contributions and to make new discoveries.
  • Enabling the distinguished undergraduate students to continue their postgraduate studies locally.
  • Preparing qualified scientific and professional human resources at various fields of knowledge.  
  • Encouraging qualified scientists to keep pace with the rapid developments in science and technology and push them towards innovation, creativity and the development of the scientific research that must be directed to address problems in Saudi society.
  • Improving quality of undergraduate programs to interact with the graduate studies programs.
