The English Department’s Academic Forum is an annual gathering organized by the English Department at Umm Al-Qura University. The forum is a platform to discuss and present recent academic theories in the three majors of the English Department: Linguistics, Literature and Translation. The forum, thus, attracts interested students and scholars from within the university and on a national level. Additionally, it aspires to appeal to participants from across a wide spectrum of areas outside of the English research community, inviting them to join the discussion as well as participate in the debate on the social medium platform.
The main goals of the forum are to:
- encourage regional and national contributions; motivate academics to conduct new research as well as revive their research interests.
- provide participants with a venue where they can meet and interact with other researchers; discuss opportunities for future collaborations.
- provide an interdisciplinary platform to discuss different areas of research with reference to the most recent theories in the field.
- ground students within the research community by giving them the opportunity to participate, thus preparing them for an academic career.
