The Department of Clothes and Textile was established in 1416 A.H., under the umbrella of the College of Education for Home Economics. It aimed at graduating female teachers specialized in clothes and textile. After joining Umm Al-Qura University in 1427 A.H., the departments of the college were restructured under the title, College of Arts and Internal Design. In 1435 A.H., the title of the college changed to the College of Designs, and the title of the department also changed to the Department of Fashion Design. This department aims at graduating female students who are scientifically qualified, have outstanding capabilities, and are suitable for the labor market.
