Overview

  • In 1403 A.H., corresponding to 1983, the Supreme Council of Universities, at its first session held on Tuesday, 20 Jumada Al-Awwal, 1403 A.H., approved the establishment of the Medical Sciences Department as one of the scientific departments affiliated to UQU College of Applied Sciences in Makkah.

  • In 1405 A.H., the first batch of twenty students was accepted in the department.

  • The department served as the nucleus for the establishment of the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences.
  • In 1416 A.H., a royal decree was issued confirming the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities to transfer the Department of Medical Sciences into the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences.
  • In 1426 A.H., a royal decree was issued approving the separation of the Department of Medical Sciences from the College of Medicine. In so doing, it became a self-contained college named the College of Applied Medical Sciences, comprising many sections (programs), one of which is the Clinical Nutrition program.

Objectives

  • The undergraduate's acquisition of a broad basis of knowledge, understanding and skills in nutrition with the student carrying out an in depth study in the areas of clinical nutrition.
  • The undergraduate's identification of the various components of nutrition and principles of diet planning for the healthy and patients.
  • The application of appropriate nutritional programs for patients suffering from various diseases.
  • The application of modern methods to assess the nutritional status of patients.
  • Identification of local health problems related to nutrition in general and nutrition in populated areas.
  • The design and management of quantitative and qualitative field survey projects in the different populated areas and regions in the Saudi Kingdom.
  • The use of modern communication and training methods to activate nutrition and design health programs.

Mission

Providing a distinguished program that qualifies students in the field of clinical nutrition to work in different locations and participate in excellence in the development of health, research and economic services in the community and serve the Hajj and Umrah according to Vision 2030
