On my own behalf and on behalf of all the affiliates of the Department of Psychology (male and female sections), welcome to the Department of Psychology's website at the College of Education, Umm Al-Qura University.
First of all, I extend my thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bahusain Bafail, and Her Excellency the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Al-Unoud Mahdar, for providing all the services and support to this department to help it achieve its mission and goals.
The Department of Psychology department is considered to be one of the earliest departments in all the Saudi universities, starting its activities in 1383/1384 A.H. It is also one of the oldest psychology departments in the Gulf region and the entire Arab world.
Since its establishment, it has sought to achieve certain means and goals: offering BA, MA and PhD certificates, and qualifying and preparing specialists scientifically and practically to fulfill their role in serving the society institutions concerned with the educational, advising, reforming and therapeutic aspects.
Moreover, the department seeks to prepare specialized cadres in different fields, such as psychological counseling, educational psychology, psychological measurement, evaluation, statistics and research, professional psychology, and professional guidance and counseling. Additionally, it aims at offering two specialized programs: the Diploma of Guidance and Counseling and the Diploma of Measurement and Evaluation. A large number of master's and PhD holders have graduated from these programs, as well as holders of professional diplomas.
The department includes many academic staff members of various academic ranks who play a prominent role by teaching and supervising scientific theses, contributing in different research projects at the university and participating in holding various meetings and seminars at the university in particular and other universities in general. They also offer their services at hospitals and guidance centers, holding specialized scientific courses, and participate in national and international conferences by presenting scientific papers.
All praise be to Allah, the department has achieved a qualitative and quantitative step in its programs. Several new programs have also been produced that meet the requirements and demands of the labor market and keep pace with the Saudi vision.
We hope that we will be the best guide and helper for the students of the department and everyone interested in this field. We strive to provide everything that is useful and new to this lofty edifice, to build on the progress of our colleagues and to meet your expectations. We ask Allah (Exalted and Glorified be He) to grant success and progress to all.
