The representative of the Osol Society at the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies at Umm Al-Qura University (female section), in cooperation with the Department of Shari`ah, held a lecture entitled: “The Fiqhi Tanzil [Contextual Application of Jurisprudence]” The lecture was presented by Prof. Afnan bint Muhammad Tilmisani, Professor of Fiqh at Umm Al-Qura University, on Sunday, 22 Sha`ban 1442 A.H., via the WebEx platform.
The lecture included several main themes, most importantly:
The lecturer tackled some jurisprudential issues which were the subject of tanzili ijtihad (contextual application of laws to infer expert legal rulings) during the Companions era, such as: the share allotted to those whose hearts are inclined toward embracing Islam, open lands, divorce stated to prohibit the wife from her inheritance, and irrevocable divorce.
At the end of the meeting, the representative of the Osol Society, Dr. Alaa Al-Sulami, presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to Prof. Afnan Tilmisani for her efforts in the course, which gained the satisfaction of the audience.
