The representative of the Osol Society at the female section of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies at Umm Al-Qura University, in cooperation with the Department of Shari`ah, held a lecture entitled: “Problems Faced by Research in Takhreej (Exposition) and the Application of Fundamental Juristic Rules”. The lecture was presented by Her Excellency Dr. Eida bint Muhammad Al-Hatimi, Assistant Professor of Jurisprudence at Umm Al-Qura University, on Tuesday, 25 Rajab 1442 A.H., via the WebEx platform.
The course included several themes, most importantly:
- Definition of Takhreej (exposition), its types, and the difference between each one.
- The subject matter of Takhreej, its themes, derivation, and benefits.
- Definition of jurisprudential applications, the subject matter, and the difference between jurisprudential applications and Takhreej.
- Benefits of fundamental juristic applications, and the controls that the researcher adopts when applying fundamental juristic rules to legal texts.
- The pitfalls that the researcher may fall into during the fundamental juristic application of Sharia`h texts.
The term Takhreej is used in many contexts. It is not used in one single sense. These contexts include:
- Using Takhreej to understand the basic concepts of the scholars and the bases on which they based their judgments on issues.
- Using Takhreej in the sense of restricted deduction.
At the end of the meeting, the representative of the Osol Society, Dr. Alaa Al-Sulami, presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Aida Al-Hatimi for her efforts in the course, which was well received by the attendees.
