As part of the first results of the UQU Initiative for Outstanding Research Papers on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Deanship of Scientific Research received the first outputs of the initiative with the issuance of a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The aim of the initiative was to provide a mechanism for self-sterilizing tools to prevent the spread of the virus by direct contact, and to sterilize surfaces. The initiative led to the publication of two research papers in a classified scientific journal.
