Out of the keenness of Her Excellency the Acting Dean of the Joint First Year, Dr. Azza bint Muhammad Bannunah, to develop the academic and professional performance of the deanship students and to urge them to achieve more accomplishments, the Student Advisory and Support Unit, under the supervision of His Excellency the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs (male section) in Al-Abdiyyah, Dr. Waheeb bin Dakhilullah Al-Harbi, organized a lecture entitled: "University Life Skills: Intellectual Skills, Mental Fitness, and Creativity at Work". The lecture was presented by Dr. Mansur Samir Al-Saidi on Wednesday, 27 Safar, 1442 A.H.
The lecture, which was attended by a number of the students of the Joint First Year Deanship, had several main objectives, most importantly:
The trainer presented the course objectives, starting by explaining the general objectives, which aimed at developing the skills of the students in the field of intellectual skills and mental fitness and at providing them with the necessary skills to achieve excellence in work management. The trainer also presented a number of exercises for the students with the aim of developing their intellectual skills and determining their levels in order to contribute to developing their mental capacities. This in turn will reflect on their mental fitness and their ability to form new connections, discoveries and relationships. This ability can be developed according to the capabilities and capacities of the individuals, groups, and educational institutions, and also according to the characteristics of creativity at work. It also depends on reducing the chances of the emergence and growth of problems at work and reducing any possible discouragement among students, in a way that helps them redefine their goals and perceptions about work and consequently enables them to appear creative, innovative, and perseverant. After checking the students' information and inquiries, the trainer was able to define the factors affecting creativity inside the work environment and the suitable strategies in dealing with its obstacles.
Finally, the trainer reviewed the requirements needed for creativity at work at the level of the individual, group, and educational institution. Finally, the lecture concluded with the following advice to the students: "If you keep doing what you used to do, you will keep getting the same results that you used to get".
