The College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies (female section) held a remote training course via the Webex program entitled: "Methodology of the Knowledge Seeker". The course was presented by Her Excellency Dr. Hassa Al-Sudais, Associate Professor in the Department of Shari`ah at the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, on Wednesday, 27 Safar, 1442 A.H. The course included several themes, namely: the characteristics of the seeker of knowledge; scientific ta’seel [presenting classical foundations], its concept and definition; and laying the foundations and principles for the student of knowledge. Her Excellency started the course talking about the importance of scientific ta’seel. She mentioned four things that must be fulfilled in order to achieve scientific ta’seel, which are:

  • Perception of science.
  • Comprehension.
  • Enabling that comprehension.
  • Establishing the scientific construction on these principles.

Next, Her Excellency mentioned the steps of scientific ta’seel, one at a time: A plan must be drawn up, and knowledge should be obtained at the hands of a sheikh or teacher until the ambiguous issues become clear. Her Excellency then touched on the characteristics of ta’seel and its principles. She also mentioned things that may spoil ta’seel, which are: wrong intention weak faith, little time, procrastination and thinking one has a lot of time to do things, self-conceit, and other matters that spoil ta’seel.

At the end, the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies offered a certificate of acknowledgement and appreciation to Her Excellency Dr. Hassa Al-Sudais for her efforts, asking Allah to grant her success and guidance.
