Students in the Joint First Year and the Evening Preparatory Year may be exempted from studying the General English Language Course offered by the English Language Center at Umm Al-Qura University in the first academic semester. This will be the case if an (IELTS or TOEFL) certificate is submitted proving that the student obtained the score required by the center for the exemption from studying the course, as delineated below.
1. Obtaining an IELTS score of 4.5 (with a minimum score of 4 in every skill).
Or obtaining a score of 32 in the computerized TOEFL test.
Or obtaining a score of 400 in the TOEFL paper-based test.
2. A valid certificate (taken within the last two years)
Students of the Evening Preparatory Year Program are entitled to request an exemption if the conditions are met, and there will be no change in the fees, even if the student is exempted from studying the General English Language Course.
