The College of Applied Medical Sciences at Umm Al Qura University (UQU) launched a campaign on Wednesday (Jumada al-Oal 18, 1438H) titled "Thank Heroes of Southern Borderline with Your Blood" in cooperation with the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah. It is part of an initiative launched by Sustainable Projects' Institution under direct orders from the Emirate of Makkah. The campaign was organized at King Saud bin Abdulaziz Hall at 9:00 a.m. and run till 5:00 p.m. President of Umm Al-Qura University Bakri bin Maatouk Bakry Assas gave green light to the campaign during the meeting that was attended by deans of the colleges and employees.

Dean of the College Ahmed Ashshi said the campaign is part of community initiatives launched by the college and the university in cooperation with the Health Affairs Directorate. In this campaign, a blood donation unit would be deployed with six beds for drawing blood, he said, adding necessary tools are available to make tests on the donors.

The dean urged students and employees to participate int he campaign that is meant to promote blood donation culture and boost coherence between the community groups. He praised Dr. Assas as supporter of all activities and programs organized by the college.
