The College of Engineering in Al-Leith organized a course entitled "Three-Dimensional Printing" in the Engineering Manufacturing Workshop at the college headquarters. A number of students from the Colleges of Engineering and Computers attended the course, which was supervised by Eng. Abdullah Al-Maliki and Eng. Sami Karali, faculty members at the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department.
This course aimed to enhance the technological, artistic, and artisanal aspects in making, analyzing, designing, and printing models in different shapes and sizes. Moreover, it included the use of computers and specialized printing devices. In addition, this course combined the passion for aesthetic art, precision, mastery, and innovation, and enhanced various acquired skills.
The Dean of the Colleges of Engineering and Computers, Dr. Iskandar bin Muhammad Hawsawi, stressed that the three-dimensional printing course is part of a series of courses organized by the college that aim to raise the skills of students and equip them with useful knowledge and various skills through the programs offered throughout the year.
He also stressed that the three-dimensional printing course aimed to familiarize students with the principle of manufacturing and how this principle has developed and revolutionized the field of manufacturing in the current decade. Moreover, the students aimed to recognize the advantages and disadvantages of 3D printing technology, learn about several 3D printing techniques and how to use them, and know how to choose the optimal method for printing with the material to be used for printing.
Additionally, the course also contributed to integrating technology in the use of computers and printing devices, which helps in educating students about the applications of 3D printing in construction and industry.
