The Council of Entrepreneurship Launches ‘Basics of Entrepreneurship’ Course for Students of Engineering and Computers

Students of the College of Engineering and the College of Computers in Al-Leith completed the interactive two-day course entitled, 'Basics of Entrepreneurship'. The course, which taught administrative leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation, was presented by the trainer Mr. Nabil Almir.

The event was organized by the Council of Entrepreneurship at the College of Computers and the College of Engineering in Al-Leith, with the participation of the academic staff members and in cooperation with the UQU Institute of Entrepreneurship and the Deanship of Quality.

The course, which is considered one of the significant contributions of the Council of Entrepreneurship to the development of knowledge and the innovation-based economy, was designed to develop basic professional skills, enhance the students’ abilities, and teach them how to apply design thinking to create prototypes, turning them into products ready for the market. It also aimed to teach negotiation skills and how to communicate with companies and institutions to be able to create robust business partnerships. This is in addition to approaching all aspects of their lives with an entrepreneurial mentality.

The Dean of the Colleges of Engineering and Computers in Al-Leith, Dr. Iskandar Hawsawi, stated that entrepreneurship is the new the new model for growth, and that innovation skills gained by the students will remain with them throughout their professional life. He added that the college seeks to provide these development programs to make students more ambitious and provide them with scientific and practical skills to develop their future life, in order for them to be a force that builds our country.

On his part, the Supervisor of the Council of Entrepreneurship, Dr. Abdullah Al-Zahrani, explained the importance of diversifying the programs and initiatives to enhance the capabilities of the students in the first place and also disseminate the culture of entrepreneurship in the community. He confirmed that the course is considered one of the significant contributions of the College of Engineering and Computers to the development of knowledge and the innovation-based economy in the Saudi Kingdom.
