On Monday, 23 Jumada Al-Thani, 1441 A.H., corresponding to 17 February 2020, the College of Health and Health Informatics hosted His Excellency Dr. Assim Abdul-Aziz Al-Khuqir as part of the development activities being carried out for the academic staff members at the college. Dr. Assim was hosted to deliver a lecture on the ethics of scientific studies and medical research during the periodic development meeting.

The meeting was presented by Dr. Khuqir, holder of a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in Britain in the specialty of molecular genetics. He currently occupies the position of Coordinator of Research and Scientific Committees in the General Directorate of Health Affairs at the Ministry of Health in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region. He is also a member of research ethics committees in the Saudi Kingdom.

The meeting focused on the work system of the national committee and the local committees for research ethics, and the relevant approval mechanism. Dr. Assim Khuqir discussed the details of the steps required to obtain the approval of the local committees for research ethics, and how to fill in the forms for obtaining approval for scientific studies and medical research.

At the end of the meeting, the college presented a memorial shield to thank the guest and express their appreciation for the rich discussion he offered.
