The English Language Center held a workshop, in collaboration with the Scholarship Department, entitled: “How to Write an Academic CV”, for the academic staff members and the potential external scholarship students. The workshop was implemented on Monday, 12 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1441 A.H., for three hours. The workshop content was prepared and presented by Ms. Sara Al-Zaidi and Ms. Sabah Al-Zahrani, under the supervision of Her Excellency the Deputy Director of the English Language Center, Dr. Sahar Al-Zahrani.
The workshop introduced the academic CV, its importance, and the significant differences that distinguish it from the non academic CV. It also reviewed its objectives, and the expected evaluation and approval of its content by the party to whom the application is submitted. This is in addition to a detailed explanation of the most important headlines to be included in the CV, and a presentation of academic examples in this regard.
The workshop also included additional themes which included additional optional topics, such as text formatting and writing methods, and reviewed the most common writing errors. After that, Ms. Sara Al-Zaidi offered general tips and strategies to be followed upon writing a CV, and opinions were exchanged and inquiries were raised by the audience.
At the conclusion of the session, a prepared CV template was presented to be filled out by the male and female trainees, who started the practical application during the workshop. Some other valuable sources in writing the academic CV were also suggested.
